Afterschool program

Umoja's afterschool program is a nurturing environment where young minds flourish and dreams take flight. Guided by passionate mentors, students engage in a diverse array of enriching activities that cater to their interests and foster holistic development. From academic support to creative arts and sports, the program offers a well-rounded experience tailored to each child's needs and aspirations. Community Events

Join Umoja’s Community Sewing Program! We're excited to have you join us for fun, creativity, and skill-building. The program is open to women aged 12 and up and runs every other Saturday starting September 28th from 11 AM - 2 PM at 342 Deerpoint Gardens SE. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced sewer, we provide all necessary tools and materials to get you started, including sewing machines and hand-sewing supplies.

LIFT: Girls' Leadership

Join our Girls Leadership Program, designed to inspire and empower young girls to become confident leaders in their communities! Through engaging workshops, leadership opportunities, and collaborative projects, participants will develop essential skills in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Our supportive environment encourages girls to express their ideas, build self-esteem, and cultivate their unique strengths. Whether they aspire to lead in sports, academics, or community initiatives, this program provides the foundation for a successful future.

KickOn Leadership program

Umoja's KickOn Youth leadership program is a transformative platform empowering young individuals to become catalysts for positive change in their community. Through tailored workshops, mentorship, and hands-on projects, participants develop essential leadership skills, including communication, problem-solving, and teamwork, while exploring avenues for personal growth and self-discovery. Led by experienced mentors and supported by a network of peers, KickOn cultivates a sense of purpose and agency, inspiring youth to drive innovation, and champion causes close to their hearts. As a beacon of empowerment, this program not only shapes future leaders but also fosters a culture of resilience, compassion, and unity within Umoja and beyond.

Umoja's culturally appropriate food bank program is a beacon of compassion and inclusion, providing essential nourishment while honoring the diverse culinary traditions of the community. Led by dedicated volunteers and organizers, the program ensures that everyone, regardless of cultural background or dietary needs, receives food that resonates with their heritage and preferences. The food bank prioritizes cultural sensitivity and diversity, offering a dignified and respectful approach to addressing food insecurity.
