At Umoja Community Mosaic, we believe everyone deserves to belong.
We create welcoming, inclusive spaces for newcomers and marginalized communities—because belonging is the foundation for people and communities to thrive. Through a hand-up, not a hand-out approach, we break down barriers and open pathways for children, youth, and families to grow, contribute, and lead.
What began in 2010 as a small drop-in soccer program, Soccer Without Boundaries, has grown into a multi-service, neighbourhood-based organization supporting over 1,500 youth each year across Calgary. From sport and education to food security, wellness, and community connection, our programs are free, accessible, and rooted in the communities we serve.
Today, Umoja—meaning unity and belonging—is more than an organization, it’s a movement. A movement where those once served become the ones who serve, strengthening families, neighbourhoods, and the city as a whole.
Because when people feel they belong, they don’t just thrive—they help others do the same.
Umoja builds inclusion and belonging for newcomers and marginalized Calgarians, empowering people to grow from those served into those who serve, strengthening individuals and our community.
We envision caring communities across Calgary where all children and families have the supports, they need to belong, contribute, and thrive.
